Missing System Restore Tab

Problem(s):

The System Restore tab is missing in System Properties (see image below);

If you try and run System Restore is comes up with the following error:

“System Restore has been turned off by group policy. To turn on System Restore, contact your domain administrator” (see image bellow; click to enlarge).

Cause:

Most probably caused by malware.

Resolution:

Launch the registry editor (Start>Run>regedit) and navigate to the following key: HKLM\Software\Policies\Microso­ft\Windows NT\SystemRestore.

In the right pane, either delete DisableSR or modify its value to “0″ (zero) (see image below; click to enlarge);

Your System Restore tab should be where it belongs.
